Speaker's Bio
Michael Yurkovich is a Canadian business leader, entrepreneur and investment banker. For the last 10 years, he has been the President of Refraction Asset Management (RAM), a Canadian family office that specialises in early stage high return investment opportunities in Canada, the US, and selected emerging markets.
In 2017, Michael founded TIU Canada, a Ukrainian energy company that has invested over $80m in four solar stations in Ukraine, generating over 55 megawatts of electricity though more than 100,000 solar panels. His company also owns and operates solar energy producing assets in Alberta, Canada and Poland.
Throughout his career, Michael has actively promoted stronger business ties between Canada and Ukraine. He played an instrumental role in supporting the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA), which in 2017 was established to eliminate trade barriers and create new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
