Speaker's Bio
Ty recently re-joined the Department of National Defence (DND), where he serves as the Deputy Director General for International Security Policy. In this capacity, he supports international engagements for the department and the Canadian Armed Forces.
Prior to this, he worked at Public Safety Canada leading the cyber security policy team for three years.
He received his Master of Strategic Studies from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Francis Xavier University.
Following graduation, Ty worked at the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries before joining DND. He worked various policy jobs at defence, including Parliamentary affairs, regional desks, and as policy advisor to the Canadian Special Forces Command. From 2013-2016 he had the privilege of representing Canada at our Embassy in Washington D.C.
He is the recipient of the Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service, the Deputy Minister of Public Safety award for Extraordinary Achievement, and the Public Safety award for Collaboration and Partnerships.
In his down time, Ty enjoys cooking and being disappointed by various sports teams.
